Complying Action Types (June 2004 ARCHIVE)

THIS ANSWER HAS BEEN REPLACED BY

            ICIS Complying Action Types (REVISED)

For GPRA reporting purposes, complying actions are grouped into two general types: direct environmental benefits (DEBs) which reduce, eliminate or treat pollutants; and facility management and information management practices (FMIPs) which do not result in a quantifiable pollutant reduction.  DEBs have also been referred to as Physical Actions and as Direct Actions. FMIPs have also been known as Nonphysical Actions and as Indirect Actions.  If a case has a complying action in either or both of these categories, we count that case as having a complying action for GPRA purposes.
