Reporting Federal Facility Compliance Assistance in ICIS (03.20.2009)

Reporting Federal Facility Compliance Assistance in ICIS

Purpose:Reporting the number of regulated entities that take complying actions during an inspection is a GPRA goal for OECA. All EPA-led federal facility inspections (both multi-media and single media) must have a completed Inspection Conclusion Data Sheet (ICDS). Whenever compliance assistance is provided during the inspection, it is important to include this information on the ICDS.

Data Entry:ICIS is the database of record for ICDS forms. Federal facility inspectors must indicate on the ICDS (i.e., in the optional information section at the end of the form) whether EMS assistance was provided during the inspection and to what extent or detail this type of compliance assistance was provided. Enter the ICDS data into ICIS on the Compliance Monitoring “Basic Info” screen, indicating that compliance assistance, including EMS assistance was provided during the inspection and to what extent or level of detail this type of compliance assistance was provided.

Data Retrieval:  Compliance assistance information, including data from federal facilities, may be extracted from the ICDS-Inspector Provided Tier I Compliance Assistance Report, as well as from two newly updated and revised ICIS reports:  the Compliance Assistance Managers Report and the Compliance Assistance National Priorities Report.   At this time, these reports do not break out federal facility compliance assistance actions from non-federal facility actions.
