Recording Outcomes from case conclusions

The only appropriate results to record for a particular case are the amounts that actually resulted from the bringing of that case. This rule applies to all results: penalties, pollutant reductions, SEP value, and injunctive relief.

It seems clear, for example, that we do not allow penalties from an earlier case to be attributed to a later case. We don't do this with injunctive relief either. It is a valid concern that someone may not always be able to accurately calculate the injunctive relief value or pollutant reductions at the time the case is concluded. This information my become available during a future fiscal year but should be entered into ICIS under the original case.

If the case conclusion is from a previous fiscal year the outcomes will be added to the Region's year-to-date totals but not the present fiscal year totals.
