Reporting environmental benefits from CWA 301/402 cases

The Regions can report both gallons and pounds for environmental benefits from CWA 301/402 cases. It is essential that the component pollutants (BOD, TSS, Nitrogen, and Phosphorus) from a discharge be reported since these amounts are reported in the Government Performance Results Act (GPRA) measure of pounds of pollutants reduced or treated. In addition, the Regions can report the amount of the sewage/sludge or wastewater discharged in gallons. Previously, the filters in ICIS only allowed the reporting of pounds. However, at the request of the program, on September 9, 2005 updates to the complying action filters were implemented in ICIS allowing the reporting of gallons for these cases in addition to pounds of component pollutants.
